Vote Ken Robinson For Iron County Commission

About Ken

Ken Robinson was born on a working cattle ranch in Southeastern Utah. At a young age he learned the value of hard work and the importance of family and community. Following High School, he enrolled in Southern Utah State College and from that time on Cedar City has been his home. After graduating Ken found employment in the agricultural industry and together with his wife raised his family to appreciate the values and principles he was taught in his youth.

Growing From Good Roots

Throughout his career, Ken had the opportunity to meet and work with many great people in Iron County. His work along with the relationships he built provided him the chance to visit and appreciate many of the little-known treasures and amazing sites off the beaten path Iron County has to offer.  As his children grew, he recognized the need to provide them with the opportunity to learn the importance of a good work-ethic and the value of public interactions. As a solution he started the Robinson Family Pumpkin Patch. As the business expanded Ken was able to employee youth from the community as well as college students, instilling in them the same work-ethic he learned growing up.

Having spent nearly 40 years in Iron County and being an active member of the community, Ken knows how to listen and understands the issues facing Iron County as a whole, as well as the issues relevant to the individuals residing within the county.

Taking On Iron County Issues

Using Water Wisely

Because we live in the high mountains, desert water will always be the first item of importance to sustain our communities and the infrastructure of Iron County. As the population grows and many people are attracted to the area for its beauty and great people, water will continue to be the dominant issue. Many Iron County residents feel victimized by decisions made at the State or Federal level with little to no input from local officials or community members. This is extremely concerning as these groups are the ones who are impacted the most. This needs to stop. We must have local solutions for local issues. It is critical that we work together, develop relationships, and ensure that our voices are heard.

Protecting Our Lands

Along with this is the issue of public lands. Many Iron County citizens enjoy the public lands and multi-use areas that are abundant to Iron County. Yet the assault on public land continues, financed by special interest groups from across the country determined to reduce access and uses of public lands. This cannot happen. We can no longer afford to be reactive to these efforts. It is time we are proactive working to combat and push back public land efforts that are not inline with values of Iron County residents. Outside influence must be curbed when it fails to consider the best interests of local communities.

Iron County Values

Being honest, informed, hardworking, and approachable, Ken Robinson has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be a tremendous advocate for Iron County. As commissioner Ken will provide strategic leadership and experience-based results founded on common sense.

Iron County Commission, Seat C Duties

The County Fair,

A Legacy of Livestock

I feel strongly that a county fair is an important community event that offers the opportunity for our citizens to gather and enjoy local entertainment. I have been involved in the 4H program, and coached my children along with others in the Southwest JR. Livestock show, which is a combined effort between the Cross Hollows Event Center, USU Extension, and the 4H club.

I know the importance of engaging youth in agricultural projects or experiences. The Iron County Fair is a valuable tradition for our children to experience.

Public Works Director

I have over 20 years as a manager of employees. I was responsible for overseeing the purchase and maintenance of a fleet of vehicles and service/application equipment, including semi/ tractor trailers.

I’m no stranger to the hard work ahead. I currently hold a CDL class A drivers license, and can operate multiple pieces of heavy equipment.

Weed Control:

For over 20 years I managed the purchase, sales and application of weed control products and services. Along with making field identification and recommendations for weed control. I currently hold a valid state pesticide applicators license. I understand the need for a consistent approach in fighting invasive noxious weeds.

Interagency Work

I have worked with the Department of Natural Resources on safe Prairie Dog removal, to make way for a large development and construction project. I have also worked with the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service on a variety of projects.
